So How Did I Get Here From There?
My Story

I was born in Toronto, Canada, to Jamaican parents and grew up with my older sister. Our family took yearly summer trips to Florida we were fortunate to immigrate there in the late 1980s. My interest in medicine began in middle school, driven by a desire to help others and a fascination with science, health, and nutrition. This passion led me to pursue an undergraduate degree in microbiology and a master’s in nutritional biochemistry at the University of Florida. During graduate school, I conducted research on folate and vitamin B12 metabolism, which deepened my love for understanding the human body.

In 2001, I was honored to be accepted to Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia—a significant climate shift from Florida! There, I built lifelong friendships with classmates who have gone on to accomplish incredible things. While in medical school, I became a U.S. citizen in 2003, a milestone that brought immense pride to my journey. In my final year of medical school, I met Kelli, my now wife, through eHarmony, and we began our adventure together.

After graduating, I was honored to match at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore for my internal medicine residency. Training alongside such a talented group of residents and attending phsycians was humbling and inspiring. Kelli, who was completing her graduate degree in education at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA, moved to the East Coast, and we got married in April 2006.

In 2008, we moved to Dallas, Texas, for a new chapter in our lives. I found my calling in general internal medicine, inspired by the challenge of solving the mystery of each patient’s case. I was building career in the Dallas medical community and embraced the opportunity to think deeply and broadly about each patient's unique health journey.
In 2021, we relocated to Austin, Texas, where I joined One Medical to explore new opportunities in healthcare. Today, I continue to practice internal medicine with a focus on treating the whole person which fits right in with One Medical's DNA. My approach integrates evidence-based care with empathy, taking the time to understand each patient’s story and goals. Whether managing chronic conditions, navigating complex medical decisions, or providing end-of-life care as a hospice medical director, I strive to ensure that patients and their families feel supported and empowered.

Outside of medicine, I stay curious about advancements in healthcare, technology, business, and leadership. As a man of faith, I enjoy fostering meaningful connections within my community. My wife, Kelli, and I are raising three teenagers in Central Texas, and our journey has been anything but a straight line —but it has been deeply rewarding. Thank you for visiting my website and allowing me to be a part of your health journey.
